Head Trainer Kris and I had fun in the gym today, there starting to mess around with the new bumper plates, find and most importantly, figuring out where to put our ‘about to be built this week’ Monster Pull Up cage with  flying pull up attachments! Ahh yeah!

Here’s Kris doing the first power clean in the new gym on camera!

The rope climb is a challenging task that requires a capacity in most of our 10 physical skills. Once the top is reached, it also demands a bit of mental fortitude (a lot if heights aren’t your thing).  The first part, gettin to the top, can be achieved with or without the assistance of the legs and feet. “Am I supposed to climb with feet or without?”  CrossFit Santa Cruz has a nice lil paragraph about this very subject on their blog today http://www.crossfitsantacruz.com/crossfit_santa_cruz/2009/01/efficiency-with-da-feet.html

Just got back from an absolutely amazing CrossFit certification in San Diego this weekend. It was kind of like a who’s who of CrossFit.

Greg Amundson led the entire weekend. He’s pretty much the original face of CrossFit…but now he has a handlebar mustache so I’m not sure if that makes him the same face of CrossFit, buy more about but he couldn’t have been any more helpful than he was.

Kristan and Tim with Greg Amundson

Dave Castro and Andy Stumpf were the main presenters and apparently had a plan to make sure every time they spoke it blew my mind. Josh Everett, medications one of my biggest CrossFit heroes was there too…they actually nicknamed King Kong- King ‘Josh Everett’ Kong, interesting fact…

Kristan, Josh Everett, Andy Stumpf, & Tim

And just when you thought the entire thing couldn’t get any better, Coach Mike Burgener dropped in and taught Olympic lifting. Unreal! My snatch immediately gained 20 lbs after shaking his hand.

Big thanks to all the CrossFit trainers mentioned above who were so encouraging about us starting our box and affiliate, also thanks to James Letchford of CrossFit Laguna Beach and Operation Phoenix, Rory McKernan of US CrossFit, Stephane Rochet of USD Strength & Conditioning, the 2 CrossFit trainers from Australia who were so nice but I don’t know their names because I still can’t understand a word they said, and all the other trainers who helped but I am too exhausted to name right  now!

Oh, finally, Sevan dropped by and had the first public showing of the first CrossFit movie ‘Every Second Counts’! Yes. It is THAT awesome!

What a weekend…see you all tonight at 7pm!
