  • Great job on ‘Diane’ yesterday! Diane is a very challenging CrossFit Benchmark workout. The deadlift weight isn’t too heavy, prescription although 45 reps of it makes it very challenging. Then, the handstand push ups…yeah. Many people have one or the other. Strong enough to do the deadlift, but lack the gymnastic & body coordination ability to do the handstand push ups. Others are nimble enough to knock out the HSPU, but that deadlift weight is just too much…it’s always something, isn’t it. And that is part of what keeps you coming back.

-This is Brett Marshall from Canadia doing ‘Diane’ 4 or 5 years ago. Incredible time, under 2 minutes. A couple points to note though, the CrossFit Games has brought about a lot of talk about standards of repetitions. Many of the standards we think of now (hips fully open, shoulders behind the bar, etc) have become more apparent because of the CF Games. Regardless, just take a look at this incredible performance from the 2007 CrossFit Games 2nd place finisher.
