110322 – Tuesday

  • It’s HERE! I thought Friday would never come. I am so excited to see you all perform today, and over the course of this 6 week period!
  • Friday at 6pm is the critical mass session, every Friday for 6 weeks, but we will be doing this wod at every class on Friday. We will have counters, and every rep must be to Games Standard.

Next, watch the video, “Guidelines For Being A Judge At The CrossFit Games Open.” This video is geared toward both judges and athletes, and if you’re registered to compete in the Open, you need to watch it.

Then, watch the video, “First Week’s Workout Description.” Even if you already know how to do double-unders and power snatches, watch it to the end.

Friday’s WOD: (WOD in advance for once!)

10 minute AMRAP

30x Double Unders

15x Power Snatch (Ground to Overhead Any Way)

75#/55#

Everyone can do this workout…remember….everyone can do this! You are ready…You are Ever Ready!

Happy 10th anniversary to Chad & Katie! They came to hit a WOD together on their 10th anniversary, how cool is that? The couple that gets fit together, sticks together!

  • Friday Night was incredible! It was great to see so many of you show up for the 1st of our 6 week Challenge. We had some great performances by many of you, and everyone did an excellent job performing the movements to the best standards possible. For others, double unders are still your goat, but one that in time will be conquered.
  • The good news about this is that CrossFit isn’t defined by any 1 workout. That’s why this is a 6 week competition. And even that is just the start of the 2nd part of this…and then there’s even more to that for those incredible athletes that can make it. So yes, for every single CrossFitter regardless of skill or ability, more always is ahead than behind you.
  • The other good news is, CFHQ has extended the deadline for the 1st week’s WOD by 1 week…meaning…we’ll be doing it again this Friday night at 6pm! If you’re happy with your score, you can come and cheer people on and help judge. If you want a 2nd chance, here it is! If you haven’t registered yet, there’s still time! Games.crossfit.com.
  • Finally, I just wanted to say it one more time, you all are really great and Friday night was very cool.

Then there’s this video…hopefully it sets a great tone for the coming week of training! Now let’s get after it CFHV!!!

  • Awesome Monday of training! Everyone’s Overhead Squats have been improving every week, and we saw many new 5RM PR’s (If you don’t know what that means, time to schedule your intro!). Overhead Squatting is a huge test of CrossFit’s 10 components of fitness, and most people fail because of balance, flexibility, accuracy, and coordination, not strength.
  • Congrats to JPizzle & DJ Tani for completing the LA Marathon is some crazy conditions this weekend! Wow. Any other Volts & Vixens I don’t know about that completed? If so & you’ve got a photo, send me one and you will be famous (within our Community!)
  • This coming Friday’s CF Games Sectional workout is quickly coming up…and if you’ve read the news, they’ve extended the initial registration deadline for this Sunday. That means a couple things. 1. If you haven’t registered yet, you still can and join our team. 2. We’ll be doing that same WOD again this Friday. So, now I know what you may be thinking, but we’re thinking opportunity.
  • We’ll be doing that same WOD at every class again this Friday, and because we’ve been keeping score of your performances at it, we’ll be using it as a quick benchmark test. We want to see how quickly you can improve on your initial score.
  • We will have prizes (movie tickets, some gift cards) for the most improved amount of reps for men and women. So, if you only got a couple of rounds last Friday, and this Friday you get 4…yeah….exactly!

I know, I know…how many CrossFitters…But we sure did have fun Friday night!

Nicole seemed to enjoy it too…

More photos? They’ll be up on the Facebook site hopefully by tomorrow night…stay tuned!
