Hey Volts & Vixens…it’s Thursday…and that means 2 things

The Cosby’s are on and my Mom is making Mac & Cheese (you laugh but that happened EVERY Thursday for like 4 years when I was little…never missed a date)

Member Profile Time!

We’ve learned a whole bunch about the other members of our Community so far this month and this Thursday’s spotlight is shined on High Voltage Vixen Siobhan Finn. She trains during the 12:30pm “OG” class and is a great example for showing what being a Vixen is all about each and every time she trains -She puts in hard work all the time is focused on proper form and follows our coaching progressions and unlocking her full potential.

I’ve known Siobhan for a while we were both in the taekwondo community and I trained some people she knew so I knew I could push her hard right from the start 🙂 Read up and get to know another awesome Vixen!

Describe your first work out…and you know we want the Deets!

My first workout was at the North Hollywood box (before we moved to Burbank) and I was definitely nervous! I was standing in the doorway watching the previous class finish all of them half dead. I can’t remember exactly what the workout was but I know it was some kind of AMRAP involving DB push press box jumps and farmer’s walk (down the side walk). And I remember being humbled trying to keep up with the other ladies in the class. It was awesome! And I was hooked immediately!

Before joining High Voltage when did you know something had to change?

I was training Taekwondo before I started crossfit and I just began to feel a little frustrated with my training routine and wanted a change. I found Tim because other Taekwondo athletes that I trained with had started working out at his box. They all loved it so I decided to give it a try. I have a 30 minute commute to get to CFHV…But it’s totally worth it to me! I have tried other CrossFit gyms closer to me but none are the same as CFHV. There is definitely something very special about High Voltage.
Q Can you describe your most memorable CrossFit Experience for us?

There have been so many but the one that springs to mind was just a couple weeks ago. It was a 30 minute workout where we had to do 4 burpees 4 box jumps and 4 KB swings every minute on the minute. After the first round I had already decided to take a break at the 10th and 20th minutes so that I would finish a total of 28 rounds. Tyler was coaching that session and did not let me stop; and I wanted to stop SO many times! He kept encouraging me and telling me that I didn’t need to stop I was doing great I didn’t need to break I had plenty of rest time! I ended up doing all 30 rounds (of course I was dizzy and laying on the floor)! But I finished!!! If it hadn’t been for Coach Tyler I would have done as planned breaking at least 2 times. And this is exactly why I do CrossFit! You get a lot of motivation to work hard – whether it be from the coaches or from the competition of the other athletes – that is not there when you work out at alone. I have always been the type of athlete who needs/wants someone to push me hard. Crossfit does exactly that.

Q: Can you tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join CFHV.

Before I started at CFHV I would take a nap during my 2 hour lunch break and then exercise at night. Now I fill that “nap time” with the 12:30 class! I feel so much more productive!
Also it doesn’t matter how bad of a day I’m having I always leave CFHV feeling better! I love the 12:30 crew! Everyone is always encouraging and having a good time. I believe it’s the best cure for anything!

Q: Who is your most idolized fellow Volt or Vixen.

I can’t just pick one! There are too many! I am motivated and inspired on a daily basis by a different person each time.

Q: What is your favorite cheat meal?

Tie between mexican food and a good hamburger & fries. Although it seems as though all of my meals these days are cheat meals! 😮

Q: How has getting in shape changed your professional life?

I work at a Physical Therapy clinic where there is also personal training done. It definitely helps to be in shape and active in that type of environment.

Q: Do you have a one year CrossFit goal?

I hope to have a muscle up a year from now!

Q: How long have you been CrossFitting?

It’s been just around 2 years.
