Thursday. Member Spotlight Time! One of my 7 favorite days of the week!

When I first started training Aime she was this shy little wall flower in the back corner of the box deadlifting the 18# kettle bell and wouldn’t come to work out without her work out buddy Krystal.

Skip forward 8 months and she’s a trash talking CrossFit bad ass who can do pretty much any WOD we throw at her…and still comes to WOD with her buddy Krystal.

Anyways long story short she’s awesome to have around even though she gives me as much of a hard time as I give anyone. And that’s just part of why we love her.

Q: Describe your first work out and you’ve got to give out the deets!

I was extremely nervous for my first workout. I’ve always played sports and I enjoyed running but from what I had seen on youtube videos I knew that I was in no way prepared for crossFit. I was intimidated even more when I noticed everyone doing pull ups and push ups with ease before the warm up even started. The workout was a partner WOD and I felt as if I my arms were going to fall off from having to hold the bumper plate over my head. I remember leaving feeling accomplished because I had just been able to make it through without passing out in front of people (I definitely waited until I got home).

Q: Before joining High Voltage when did you know something had to change?

I knew I needed a change when I realized I hated the gym and it was no longer fun for me. I felt like it was just a boring routine with no results.

Q: Describe your most memorable CrossFit Experience.

I have to admit that there have been a few but the all time most memorable was when I completed my second round of baseline testing. I was given my time and when I compared it to my first round time and realized that I had smashed it by 2 minutes I was very excited.

Q: Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join CrossFit High Voltage.

I think it’s impacted my entire life in general because my way of thinking has changed. There are certain things that I would never have even imagined doing before. I never thought I would have been able to do pull ups but just this week alone I completed my first weighted pull up. I know its cliché but I just feel as if any goal is attainable if you put your mind to it.

Q: When have you used CrossFit outside of the box?

I play soccer on the weekends and it has improved my game. It’s easier for me to make quick cuts and bursts of speed. I find myself not getting tired as easily.

Q: Who ia your most idolized fellow Volt or Vixen?

Of course it has to be Krystal…no explanation needed. Just kidding. Although there are so many to pick from I have to go with Charissa Kiefer. I am always amazed by the amount of weight she can lift with her small body frame and still make it look so easy (and after 2 kids!!!)

Q: What is your favorite cheat meal?

I LOVE sweets and am a sucker for chocolate but I love the peanut butter cupcake from yummy cupcakes.

Q: What is your year CrossFit goal?

I would love to be able to say that I can do a muscle up!
