Friday: My Whole Life

Hey Volts and Vixens!

I wanted to take this opportunity to talk about my view of Nutritional challenges (in general) and the upcoming Whole Life Challenge (in case you’ve been living under that rock). ~ Coach Tyler ~

In the past our nutritional challenges have always been popular and effective. I enjoy getting note after note on  the great successes you’ve all seen and how it’s helped you raise your game.

Our last challenge – “Refine Your Fuel” –  was intended to help you kick off the year right as well as how to take control of your nutrition and use it to achieve your desired goals. However this didn’t speak as deeply to me at the time partly because I not only knew nutrition and how to control my intake but I also knew how to fuel for my performance. For me nutrition wasn’t my ‘weak link’. I know for some it is and this Challenge will address that but each of us are different and I needed something different to propel me. Even as a Coach every day I have to deal with the same things the rest of our Community has to – that’s part of what makes everything we do so powerful.

So…why am I passionate about the Whole Life Challenge? Well I’ve been avoiding saying it out loud but  – I need it I need this Challenge.

Coming back from surgery has been a bumpy road for me in an athletic sense. My training has been inconsistent at best. The inconsistent training makes my diet not nearly as dialed in as I am capable of. And on top of all that moderation has never really been my strong suit! I don’t say this to start a ‘sob case’ I say this because I want to share with you the reason that I really need this Challenge. I’m using the 8 weeks of this Challenge to ensure that it is my first time working out consistently in more than 1 and a half years. Since my foot is still rehabilitating (did I mention it was a very nasty surgery?) if I go ‘too hard’ one day – that’s going to cost me the next – and that’s a HUGE area I need to get better in.

The Whole Life Challenge is so awesome because it really does appeal to everybody. For me I need to learn to balance my life – from working out to recovery and consistency. Even more I’m at a place where I need my Whole Life to be Challenged and I cannot wait to begin this journey with the rest of our CrossFit High Voltage Community. As of today I am signed up and Ever Ready…are you?
