Thursday: Member Spotlight!

Hey gang! This week’s Member Spotlight shines on one of our newest Firebreathers. Check out Tom Jankas!

Describe your first workout. LET’S HEAR THOSE DEEEETTTSSSS.

I was ecstatic as I had become a lazy slob and was looking forward to getting my boot-ay kicked. I think I got luckier than most for my first workout it was 5×5 back squat with some HC and over the bar burpees for the workout. I was however highly embarrassed at how weak my back squat was….and I couldn’t actually clean…like at all. Seriously. It was pathetic.

When did you know something had to change before joining CrossFit High Voltage?

When my idea of a workout became me jogging a mile and doing 20 push ups and pull ups. I got lazy. And my belly started to jiggle. I’m not a fan of the jiggle.

Describe your most memorable CrossFit Experience.

Had to  be the firebreathers test. I very literally don’t think I’ve felt that much pain since my elite wrestling days. I also can’t remember the last time I actually felt that accomplished either.

Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join CrossFit High Voltage.

As of late it has given me something to focus on and use as a healthy daily regime. The competitive element keeps me coming in even on unmotivated days when before I would fall off and grow into a huge blob of a man every few months.

When have you used CrossFit outside of the box?

Everyday…because I’m a show off.

Who is your most idolized fellow Volt or Vixen and why?

All the coaches. Because well they can make me look a weak feeble child. And thus make me work harder.

What is your favorite cheat meal?

Pizza and booze.

How has getting in shape changed your professional life?

it adds a whole new element to my training. It allows me to have an even larger variety of skills knowledge and techniques to share with my clients.

What are some of your CrossFit goals for the next year?

Clean and Jerk 250 Snatch 205 sub 3 Fran Run a 5:30 mile 350 Back Squat and 300 cals in 10 on the almighty Airdyne

How long have you been CrossFitting?

4 1/2 months
