Farewells & Hellos

Lots to cover in today’s blog.  We have to say two goodbyes, but we also get to welcome two new things.  It’s all about balance.


This Saturday at 10am is our final Olympic Drills for Skills of this cycle.  Not to worry!  It will be back very soon.  We always do a 9 week Oly cycle where we touch upon each of the three lifts once per week, three times.

For the final Oly session this Saturday comes the fun part!  All those weeks of refining your skills and working your drills, and this week we will test both our clean & jerk AND our snatch.  Pretty awesome and it’s sure to be an exciting day with lots of PRs!

strongWOD with Coach Jose will return next Saturday, May 20 for an 8 week cycle, so get ready to get outside and get some core strength (that means abs!) for the Summer.


Anyone who has a passion in life dreams of one day being able to deliver and share it with as many people as they can.  Being able to lead with your own unique vision can have many risks, but is the only true way to see if you’ve got what it takes to earn those rewards.

I have had the pleasure of watching Ryan Felix from his first days at CFHV grow as an athlete, I helped mentor him in becoming a CrossFit coach, and trusted him as a valuable member of my team as we all grew this community together.

I remember him coming to me last year when he stepped away from his day job in the visual fx industry to go back to school and commit to coaching full time.  He has now decided to take the next step in his career and start a business of his own.

We wish him all of the very best and hope that he achieves all of the success of his dreams as he begins his new entrepreneurial endeavor.


Our Nutrition Challenge is almost here.  We have 2 prep days starting this Saturday, and the Challenge begins on Monday.

In the past there have been lots of restrictions, rules, & everybody had to eat the same.  You know what?  Not everybody’s body is the same!  This Challenge is different.

Our own Certified Nutrition Coach Arielle Zieja will be guiding you 1 on 1 and customizing your nutrition to align with your own priorities, life, & goals.

This HERO workout is a symbolic gesture of respect for all the fallen soldiers and service men and women who defend our freedom.

CrossFit affiliates around the world, regardless of ethnicity or nation, honor their courage by pushing themselves to the limit in this workout.

It is a way to remember these men and women—to ensure that they are never forgotten. Every Memorial Day weekend, we remember Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy.

This year we will hold our event on Monday, May 29 in place of all classes.  More details next week!
