We’re having a trunk show AND a test!

We had some really BIG classes lately and it’s one of my favorite things.  It fills my heart with pride and happiness.

Obviously the energy can’t be beat and the positive vibes keep the class exciting and fun.  There is something to be said about exercising by yourself as well, and some people prefer it…but let’s be honest, we’re CrossFitters because we love community!

One of the things that I love to see the most is the diversity in our members coming together for the mutual experience.  It doesn’t matter what your job is, what car you drive, the place you live or the clothes you wear…we’re all the same for that one hour a day.

To see in a single class athletes in their early twenties (and even some teens) all the way to those in their sixties all mixing it up, side by side, sharing the experience is pretty freakin’ awesome!

With our progression based system and the way the programming shakes out, we’re able to take the same exact class, and tailor it to each person’s unique abilities.

Whether you’re using just your body weight, or a full barbell, everybody is getting that same stimulus.  Whether you’re doing handstand push-ups, or seated dumbbell press, everybody is using the same muscle groups.

My point is that the weight doesn’t matter.  The specific progression of movement doesn’t matter.  What does matter is that we’re all unified via our efforts.

Everybody is working just as hard as the next person, feeling the same stimulus, and sharing in the battle…and that’s where the real power is.

The week so far is been great and I’ve loved seeing you all put in the work to reach your goals.  It’s my privilege to bear witness each day.  Let’s keep the momentum!

Lorna Jane Trunk Show:

That’s right!  You may have seen the mannequin, handouts, flyers, and other paraphernalia showing up in our lobby this week.

On Monday evening, the reps from Lorna Jane will be out with full racks of fitness apparel and active wear with HUGE discounts for CFHV members.

We haven’t had one of these for a really long time, so let us know how you like it!

Firebreather’s Class:

This class requires a test-in to participate. Passing this test is a rite of passage and creates a bond amongst those who have come before.  It’s why you have to be tested in by someone who has already passed.

Our gym-wide test-in opportunity is THIS Saturday, August 12 @ 11:30am.

We already have 9 of you signed up to take on this formidable challenge, and I have no doubt we’ll see another few official Firebreathers join the club.

All are welcome to give it a shot.  If you aren’t already familiar with the test, check out the white board in the goat work area for the scoop!

Oly Class is BACK:

Olympic Drills for Skills has RETURNED! It’s every Saturday from 10-11:30am!

This class will run for 9 weeks, and each week will focus on one of the Olympic lifts: the clean, the jerk, or the snatch.  We’ll touch on each lift 3 times over the 9 weeks.

This is by far one of our most popular classes as it gives you all the opportunity to focus on fine tuning these complex and intricate lifts.

By breaking them down into drills that address each portion of the lift before trying to put the whole thing together, it will help create the awareness & intention necessary to set you up for successful fluid movements.

There IS daycare for this class every week!

We’re excited it’s back, and we know you are too!
