Member Spotlight: Brian Bertino

Today’s member first came to me looking for direction & guidance to achieve his goal of qualifying for Regionals. We had some “real talk” about what it would take, and he agreed to undergo over 6 weeks of rigorous testing by me to “assess not guess” as to the perfect strategy.

Always trusting in the process, having faith, and being one of the kindest, humble, & hard working guys I know will no doubt create the right formula to propel him to that goal.

Having someone who is endlessly coachable & always approachable is a joy. He’s easy to spot because he never wears a shirt…even for the warm-up…today meet:

When I was not making progress at another box.

First muscle up.

How has getting in shape changed your professional life?

I think people/customers look on you with a little more respect when you’re obviously physically fit.

Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join High Voltage

Wanted to compete and knew I needed a lot of work to get there with the right coaching and support. Checked out a few boxes and HV seemed like the right fit with great coaching and community.

When have you used CrossFit outside of the box?

All the time, moving, luggage when traveling, carrying things at work, hiking, it comes into play in so many instances.

Who is your most idolized fellow community member?

Andrew W…you don’t see him coming, but he crushes every workout and is usually the time/weight to beat. Plus he seems like a great guy.

What is your one year or next CrossFit goal?

Win a local comp Rx.

What is your favorite & least favorite movement or WOD?

Favorite: Deadlift Least favorite: Dumbbell man-maker

What is your favorite cheat meal?

I’ll f*** up some french toast.
