What’s not to love about today’s spotlight? She’s part of one of the tightest crews around- our 7am crew.
Talk about progress! She’s here early & stays late to get those “goats” and work on her goal of increasing her strength training. Not only that, but I personally had the pleasure of coaching her as she attended nearly every Skills Class in the cycle.
That’s dedication, and she saw the results from all of that hard work! It was a real pleasure for me to see her thoughtful approach, & do it fearlessly as she took on new and challenging movements.
She’s one to watch in 2018. Have a read about…
What’s your name?
Describe your first work out here at Crossfit High Voltage:
I’m pretty sure my first workout was during MomWOD. If I remember correctly, the scheduled workout for the day was a rotating EMOM with rowing, burpees, and push ups. I was exhausted after the first round and there were still 3 or 4 more to go. I couldn’t even do a singe push up. I was incredibly sore the next day but I was so excited to jump back into another workout!
Before joining High Voltage, when did you know something had to change?
I had been running on and off: Running 40+ miles a week and feeling good and then getting a strain or muscle pull and then not running at all for weeks. To end this vicious cycle, I was looking to incorporate some lifting to mix up my training and get stronger. But knew I needed some guidance in regards to the proper way to perform specific lifts and didn’t exactly know the best way to see consistent progression. So I looked into a few CrossFit gyms in the area, visited High Voltage and knew immediately it was the perfect fit for me.
Describe your most memorable CrossFit Experience so far.
Outside of High Voltage, what kind of work do you do? Give yourself a plug!
I’m a Business Analyst for a post-production company. It combines two of my favorite things: Film and excel spreadsheets.
How has getting in shape changed your professional life?
Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join High Voltage.
When have you used CrossFit outside of the box?
Obviously moving. During my most recent move, I couldn’t stop picuring the move as some sort of oddball WOD! 30 Rounds for time: Carry a 40lb box up three flights of stairs Sprint back Rest 30 seconds.
Who is your most idolized fellow community member?
Hands down, Bryan Felix. Always encouraging and full of helpful critique at 7am, 12:30pm, or anytime you see him. I am seeing fantastic improvement in my Olympic lifts thanks to his help. I also have to give a shout out to Dan Crawley. I don’t get enough chances to thank you for all your hard work behind the scenes with programming, organizing great community activities and just keeping the gym together!
What is your one year or next CrossFit goal?
Right now, I’m focusing on getting stronger in the major lifts (squat, deadlift, press) and would love to be able to lift my body-weight or 1.5x my body-weight. Also, still trying to get that first pull up!
What is your favorite & least favorite movement or WOD?
Favorite: Assault Bike (no joke) Least Favorite: Wall Balls. I’ve been hit in the face by that thing one too many times 😐
What is your favorite cheat meal?
An ice cold beer and a steak burrito.
