Today we get to feature a member who has run the gamut of the classes we offer here. While these days she’s a staple at 6:30, she’s been bringing her A-game to nearly every class on the schedule.
Don’t let her quiet & humble nature fool you, she consistently brings it and packs a big punch with her daily efforts.
This year was a big one as she stepped up and competed in our Rumble in the Box competition in house. Make a new friend today, and start with:
What’s your name?
Describe your first work out here at Crossfit High Voltage:
Oh jeez… I can’t fully recall! I came over from Will Rise. I was pretty nervous to be in a new gym, but I distinctly remember feeling like “wow, these guys really care about form.” I felt great about the programming right away.
Before joining High Voltage, when did you know something had to change?
Oh, easy. I went on a trip to Israel. Lots of hiking. I thew my lower back out on day 2 of 10. I felt like such a loser at 23.
Describe your most memorable CrossFit Experience so far.
Getting 143 on a deadlift 🙂
Outside of High Voltage, what kind of work do you do? Give yourself a plug!
I work in the music biz! I work at a music publisher, where we create lots of music for TV, ads, movie trailers, etc.
How has getting in shape changed your professional life?
I suffer from migraines pretty regularly, and high intensity work outs keep the blood flowing and reduce the frequency of migraines. So, I’m able to guarantee that I’ll be more present on the job and able to go out at night (which is part of my job) without worry about migraines.
Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join High Voltage.
Working out the way we do calms down my nervous system during rest time. I work in a stressful world. CrossFit keeps my head clear, so I can sleep better, make calmer decisions, and overall feel more at ease.
When have you used CrossFit outside of the box?
Squatting down! Ya know, to pet dogs or pick up something on a shelf in a store.
Who is your most idolized fellow community member?
Deb. She’s so clear and direct. I love how often she checks in on us and corrects our form/offers advice. 6:30 class, what’s goooooood.
What is your one year or next CrossFit goal?
What is your favorite & least favorite movement or WOD?
Favorite: Back squat. Least favorite: Snatch
What is your favorite cheat meal?
Most definitely Thai food.
If you had to describe CFHV in one sentence:
A great big sweaty family. 🙂
