There’s been a lot of excitement in the air at the gym since the big merger was announced on Sunday night. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to iron out a smooth and seamless process.
Most important to me is to get all the information to all of you as quickly as possible as details solidify. Knowledge is power, and also helps to alleviate any anxiety that comes with change.
Without further adieu, I wanted to address as much as I could think of in today’s blog:
Is the name of the gym changing? Is the gym moving?
Nope! We are now, and have always been CrossFit High Voltage, and will continue to be. We’re staying right here in our current home of the last 8+ years.
Hopefully someday as we continue to grow, we can maybe get into a bigger and better building, but we’re staying put right here for now and the foreseeable future.
What about the CFHV coaches?
They aren’t going anywhere either! All of our coaches will still be here coaching as always, we’ll just be adding to our coaching staff. With Coach Josh recently heading off to work as a stunt performer in the movies, and Coach Robin taking a leave to focus on her health, the help couldn’t come at a better time.
Modern Viking Athletics has a great coaching staff covering a wide variety of disciplines, including CrossFit, CF Kids, Yoga, Pilates, Olympic Weightlifting, & Nutrition. We’ll just get to benefit from their expertise and add them to our stellar crew, to make up the finest coaching staff in Burbank.
Will class sizes be getting bigger?
The great benefit of having more coaching staff is the ability to give all of you a better experience, with more personalized attention. Rest assured we’ve already taken into account class sizes, and will make sure that the ratio of coach to athletes remains the same.
For the months of June & July, we’ll be having both a CFHV coach and an MVA coach at each class time, throughout the day. This is in addition to the current ITP shadows that have been helping out.
We want to make sure that everybody from each community sees a familiar coach face in their class, as well as have a chance to integrate with all of the new faces we get to welcome.
You’ll start to see some of these members and coaches as soon as June 4, with everybody joining us starting the week of June 18.
Will there be new class times? Is the schedule changing?
The current CFHV schedule will remain just as it is now. The great news is that we’re adding NEW class times, also starting on the week of June 18:
- 10:30am Monday through Friday CrossFit
- 8:30pm Monday through Thursday CrossFit
- 7:30pm Wednesday Yoga
- 11:00am Sunday Partner WOD
What about office staff? Who do I go to if I need help?
Bryan will still be here from early mornings into early afternoons, with Nicolette in the afternoon into early evening.
From MVA we also have Travis Mersola & Mitch Levy joining our administrative staff. They’ll all be able to help you out with billing & membership questions, as well as any other needs you may have.
The best news is that with the additional help, we’ll be able to make sure someone is in the office all day from open to close to take care of the entire community at all times.
What about Chico & Dan?
We aren’t going anywhere either! We’ll still be here as always, serving as the foundation for the gym and taking care of all the behind the scenes action. I’ll still be coaching, writing the programming, working on coaching development with our staff, and a million other things.
The great news is that we have the owner of MVA, Logan Blacker-Woods joining us as a partner in CFHV. This will allow each of the three of us to focus on our individual strengths, to give all of you an even better experience.
Logan built his gym from the ground up into an incredibly impressive community, and he brings along with him the very same OPEX training that I concluded last year. We came up as coaches together over 7 years ago, and have been great friends ever since, so it’s a natural fit.
MOST importantly, will there be a party?
You betcha! We’ll be having a big hootenanny for the entire posse at the end of June. We’re eyeing the last Saturday in June, and as we lock it down, you’ll all be the first to know!
So there you have it! Obviously more details to come, but that’s a LOT for today. If you have any questions in meantime, please don’t hesitate to email me: firstname.lastname@example.org
Memorial Day Murph is THIS Monday on May 28! If you haven’t seen all the details, check it out:
Don’t forget that we’ll be having our legendary potluck bbq immediately to follow, so PLEASE sign up on the whiteboard with what you’d like to bring.
We can’t wait to see you there! It’s the biggest community event of the year!
As announced, this very popular class will return for a Summer session. Headed up by Coach Dizzle, this is a great opportunity to WOD, bond, and meet some of the other ladies you don’t normally train with.
It’s also a fantastic chance to focus on some skills that can be more challenging for women, like dips, pull-ups, handstand push-ups, & muscle-ups.
Please join us starting Sunday, June 3rd, and then every other Sunday @ 11am through August 19th. As always, we will end the Summer with some fruit and mimosas!
