Today’s featured members has had one of the most incredible transformations of anyone I’ve had the pleasure of knowing, and I’m not talking just about physically or athletically.
She actually came to us already an experienced athlete, primarily a runner. She’s an OG momWODder, and her entire family including her husband and both daughters are living the CrossFit life every day.
This past year she was brave enough to face her fears and overcome her shyness, as she rose to the challenge of our instructor training program to begin the path to becoming a coach.
For someone so quiet, her actions roar with fury. She’s had nearly perfect attendance, aced her written & practical exams, as well as every assignment. She’s the top of the class, and you’ve probably seen her shadowing now.
She’s a great athlete, a great person, and she’s going to be a great coach here at CFHV. Please meet:
What’s your name?
Describe your first work out here at Crossfit High Voltage:
I don’t really remember the workout, but it was right when momWOD started. I’m certain I was sold instantly. It was a nice change from my 5am runs and I used a barbell! That would NEVER have happened at a Globo gym.
Before joining High Voltage, when did you know something had to change?
Uhhhh the nickname my girls had for me was Squishy Tushie. Enough said.
Describe your most memorable CrossFit Experience so far.
I have so many great memories!! The 2017 Open. My schedule one week forced me to do the workout that week during Friday Night Lights instead of in the morning. There were snatches. Crap!! I practiced forever with a broomstick in my backyard. Chad was my judge and he was so patient!! I’ll never forget when everything finally ‘clicked’ during the WOD. I’m not sure if it has since… but I was pretty excited.
Outside of High Voltage, what kind of work do you do? Give yourself a plug!
Apex for LIFE!!! Coach Craig and Pete got my back!
How has getting in shape changed your professional life?
Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join High Voltage.
Keeping up with the kids! Everyone says it, but it’s so true!! My running has also improved. I’m faster and my legs last longer.
When have you used CrossFit outside of the box?
I can carry the cases of water into the house on my own!! It’s the little things, ya know?!
Who is your most idolized fellow community member?
This one is tough. So many people shine in different ways, but the women make me so proud. I love the new mom who busts her ass to feel human again, and to feel like she is taking her body back… and the girls who ‘claim’ they were never athletes but lift like they have their entire lives. I also love the competitive spirit. Here, you lift one another up! Women here are just as proud of their friends as they are of themselves. Just being around this community has had a huge impact on my girls. Strong is beautiful.
What is your one year or next CrossFit goal?
To get my shoulder mobility and strength back and to do the Open RX!
What is your favorite & least favorite movement or WOD?
I love all of that overhead work, especially overhead squats. I don’t really have a least favorite.. maybe the bike?
What is your favorite cheat meal?
Norm’s breakfast burritos. At least once a week.
If you had to describe CFHV in one sentence:
Crossfit is my happy hour. Please make it a shirt? 😉
