Member Spotlight: Diana Gomez
Today’s spotlight has been a real inspiration to me lately. She’s always been consistent in her training, she’s always given it her all, but lately…something’s been different.
There’s been a real fire in her. A fierce commitment, and an unstoppable will. She trained with us all last year through a very healthy pregnancy, even competing at our in house “Rumble in the Box” with her husband, a fellow CFHV CrossFitter.
Since giving birth, she’s returned to the fold with a renewed vigor. She’s a staple at our Oly class on Saturdays, always working on getting her technique perfected. That’s the type on mindset sure to see her through to continued success. Please meet…
What’s your name?
Describe your first work out here at Crossfit High Voltage:
I don’t remember the workout but I remember Ryan House was coaching and I am pretty sure it kicked my butt.
Before joining High Voltage, when did you know something had to change?
After the birth of my daughter, I had a hard time losing the baby weight. I tried P90X, running, hiking and just about anything I could find, but nothing kept me motivated long enough to stick to it. I had been curious about crossfit for sometime, luckily for me, my friend Jeannette had started crossfit and invited me to come try a workout. I’ll never forget it. It was Memorial Day Murph!
Describe your most memorable CrossFit Experience so far.
Rumble in the Box! It was such an awesome experience! I was able to participate in my very first crossfit competition alongside my husband and I was 7 months pregnant. I had such a blast and I was pretty proud of what I was able to do.
Outside of High Voltage, what kind of work do you do? Give yourself a plug!
I’m an analytical linguist for law enforcement
How has getting in shape changed your professional life?
It has definitely made me more confident and motivated me to try for other more physically demanding positions.
Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join High Voltage.
I love that my husband and I found something that we enjoy doing together. I love watching him kill workouts and having him around to push me to the finish line. Having my kids watch us and want to learn from us is just an added bonus. Sharing this with my family is the best feeling and helps keep me motivated.
When have you used CrossFit outside of the box?
Everyday… Costco runs, running around with a 4 year old, but seriously, ever try carrying a baby in a car seat? Not as easy as it looks. lol
Who is your most idolized fellow community member?
I’m motivated by everyone who comes in everyday and gives it their all.
What is your one year or next CrossFit goal?
I really want to get the clean down and a pull-up would be nice lol
What is your favorite & least favorite movement or WOD?
Favorite: Cleans (This is funny because I still have such a hard time with them) Least favorite: Wall Balls
What is your favorite cheat meal?
Pasta, bread and anything chocolate
If you had to describe CFHV in one sentence:
My second home and favorite place to be.
