Trial by Fire- will you be next?
The Next “Trial by Fire”:
Back in 2011 a group of athletes showed up to CrossFit High Voltage to take a test, not knowing what to expect when they arrived. They were given a 25 minute cap to complete “Trial by Fire”.
It takes devotion and dedication to be good at all of the test movements; it doesn’t allow for any holes in your game. There are many who didn’t pass the first time, but re-tested because they were not going to be intimidated by it’s infamy.
Passing this test is a rite of passage and creates a bond amongst those who have come before. It’s why you have to be tested in by someone who has already passed.
Once you are in the club though, the weekly advanced classes are some of the very best training sessions of the week. They bring a special intensity, commeraderie, and magic that just doesn’t happen anywhere else.
The time has come to add to our group, and YOU can be a part of it!
We’ll be having a gym-wide test-in opportunity on Saturday, August 25 @ 10:30am.
If you aren’t already familiar, we only do these gym wide “Trial by Fire” test ins once a year. This is your chance to find out how far your training has come, and put both your mind & body to the test and see if you have what it takes.
Traditionally only a small fraction of those who take this test pass it. Each time we test, usually around 15 of you will take it on, and only 1-3 at the most will pass.
I can’t help but wonder who will be the next Firebreather?
No matter your ability level, there is always something more to train for. It’s going to be a really special and amazing day and I’d love to have as many members of our community as possible out to support those who are brave enough to give it their all on that day.

In 25 minutes or less:
- 400m Run
- 30 chest to bar (chin over bar ladies)
- 25 Box Jumps (24/20″)
- 20 Kettlebell Swings (70/44#)
- 15 Thrusters (135/85#)
- 10 Power Cleans (185/115#)
- 5 Ring Muscle-Ups (ring dips for ladies)
- 10 Handstand Push-Ups (1 abmat for ladies)
- 20 Toes to Bar
- 30 Burpees
- 50 Double Unders
- 500m Row

Saturday @ 8am: Firebreather’s (advanced & requires test in)
