What’s your name?
Describe your first time trying CrossFit:
My first time was at CFHV like 6 years ago and I was so sore the next day that I couldn’t walk or sit down without crying! So I came back for more!
Before starting CrossFit, when did you know something had to change?
I have always been focused on my fitness. I worked out regularly and was happy with my appearance. It wasn’t until I tried CrossFit that I realized the potential I wasn’t tapping into! I realized how much more powerful group classes were and how much harder I worked and pushed myself! I was not getting that by working solo.
Describe your most memorable CrossFit Experience so far.
This is extremely hard to answer! But I think my first CrossFit competition wins. Everyday we make such incredible memories as we try new things we haven’t before. But competition days are like no other. They’re distinct. Absolutely nothing like them! You train so hard for them, and when they arrive you just want them to be over lol But magic happens somewhere in between the anxiety and Adrenalin dumps.
Outside the box, what kind of work do you do? Give yourself a plug!
I am a Property Management Maintenance Coordinator. I fix all of the mechanical issues our tenants have. When I’m not doing that I am focusing on the next steps towards my credentials in the specialty I’m obsessed with.
How has getting in shape changed your professional life?
Getting in shape has changed everything for me. I’ve been put on track. I hold myself accountable. And these traits can be applied to every aspect of your life and it has for me. Im more grounded, more responsible and dependable, I don’t stress the small stuff, I go for things I never would have gone for before! I’m actually living life and am an active player in it! you can’t buy that on a shelf or on Amazon! LOL
Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join CrossFit:
I didn’t really believe in myself or have the confidence I have now, before CrossFit. I was somewhat unhappy with that aspect of my life but didn’t know how to change it. Once I began CrossFit I got this drive and confidence I never new. And when I began lifting I felt like there wasn’t anything I couldn’t handle! Crappy day at work? No problem, I have a #136 C&J! And just like that, I was changed.
When is a time you’ve been able to use CrossFit outside of the box?
All of the time! But it really comes in handy during the holidays when you literally have to clean & deadlift decoration boxes out of small crawl spaces in the garage LOL
Who is your most idolized fellow community member?
I have to say Miranda Oldroyd. I met her when I was receiving my CFL1. She was strong, supportive and knew her stuff. Then she had an injury set back, became a mother and entrepreneur and her gears shifted. She’s a major inspiration to athletes of all levels who are now mommys. She really helped me put things into perspective for myself!
What is your one year or next CrossFit goal?
Right now my goal is to heal and recover in my postpartum phase so that I can come back to the movements I have missed performing during my pregnancy: Heavy ass Cleans, T2B, Pull ups, Pistols and Double Unders!!
What is your favorite & least favorite movement or WOD?
I really love Annie because I can really smoke it with my dubs, they’re my pride and joy lol. And I think anything with thrusters involved I dislike, you just know you’re in for a rude awakening lol
What is your favorite cheat meal?
If you had to describe CrossFit in one sentence:
CrossFit isn’t about winning or losing or being afraid to fail, Its about you going against you and only fearing that you never tried.
