There must be something in the air, because you all completely CRUSHED testing week!

I’m SO immensely proud of each and every one of you for trusting the process and sticking to the program these last eight weeks.

…and you know what? It paid off BIG time!

Every day when I came in there were entire classes of PRs on that white board. It’s all a testament to your hard work, dedication, and great attitude as you made sure to dial it all in, improve your technique, and be patient with your progress.

Sure, maybe we didn’t all get that elusive PR (I myself failed multiple PR attempts for both my deadlift & split jerk) but that doesn’t mean improvements weren’t made.

Maybe you moved the same amount of weight, but did it with better technique and safer form this time. Maybe you didn’t match, but you were able to adjust your approach and learn something new that will pay off in the long run.

Sometimes PRs aren’t just a weight on a bar. Sometimes you can PR your mental outlook, and that will ultimately translate to your physical performance.

Make no mistake though, CFHV had a lot of really great physical performances this week, and it’s one of my favorite parts of leading this community! Great job to everyone!

CrossFit Sparx:

Our next 8 week cycle for CrossFit Sparx (ages 3-6) has begun, and it continues this Saturday @10am. Led by Coach Debbie Serpas, these classes are ideal for our 3-5 year old athletes.


Physical fitness programs for youth have proven repeatedly to nurture their neurological development as much as their physical development.

It improves social skills, builds confidence, fosters teamwork, as well as teaches integrity & discipline. Kids in our programs learn to have a self-perception based on their effort and what they can do, rather than superficial attributes.

Most importantly? It’s all wrapped up in games and fun! Using elements that children gravitate toward naturally in their play, we can help them build skills for a lifetime.

strongWOD is HUGE:

Did you make it out to the first couple strongWODs of this cycle? This cycle still has 5 weeks left, so there’s still plenty of time to get in on the fun!

strongWOD is every Saturday in the speciality class time slot @10:30am.

This class implements things that are more like what you’ll encounter in real life.  Lifting odd objects, midline stabilization (that’s abs!), asymmetric exercises (one side at a time), and myriad of other cool new ways to move.

Sandbags, yoke carries, farmer’s carry, sled pulls, prowler pushing, tire flips, Atlas stone, sledgehammer, the list goes on.

strongWOD exercises are all about that midline stabilization.  Most types of human movement work best when they’re core to extremity to deliver the most efficient work capacity.
