What’s your name?
Describe your first time trying CrossFit:
After coming to a holiday party at the gym, I got dragged in to do a private training session and partner workout with my fiance who is super into Crossfit. I had been lifting weights and casually working out for years and was assured by Coach Logan and my fiance that it “would not be a Crossfit workout.” About 10 minutes into it I wanted to die. But I signed up for 3x per week private training with Coach Logan that day and haven’t looked back. But if you ask me, I was tricked into it.
Before starting CrossFit, when did you know something had to change?
I worked on an ambulance for years prior to working at the gym. Every year, we had to complete a physical agility test with the fire department. It was essentially a Crossfit workout that murdered my soul every year. Stair climbing, running, farmers carries, odd object carries, etc etc etc. Every single year I’d about pass out mid way though, have to take an hour or two nap in my car afterwards, and spend the next week recovering… but every year I managed to pass. I finally reached a breaking point and decided I never wanted to feel like that again. Fast forward to the next year- and a year of Crossfit under my belt- and I smoked the test and went to the gym afterwards to actually get a decent workout in.
Describe your most memorable CrossFit Experience so far.
My first Crossfit Open was unforgettable. The way the community comes together is incredible.
Outside the box, what kind of work do you do? Give yourself a plug!
I literally live at the gym.
How has getting in shape changed your professional life?
Well, I realized that fitness was my calling and I committed to working full time at it.
Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join CrossFit:
I have an amazing group of friends, career, and a healthy life to look forward to thanks to Crossfit.
When is a time you’ve been able to use CrossFit outside of the box?
Back when I still worked on an ambulance it was a daily occurrence. If you ever think you want to be able to move a body, don’t skimp on those deadlifts, farmer carries, and bear hug sandbag carries. The mental workouts though are the ones that I really apply in my day to day life. You CAN.
Who is your most idolized fellow community member?
Nicolette, obviously. She’s the real hero here.
What is your one year or next CrossFit goal?
Beating Coach Travis in a Crossfit Open workout!
What is your favorite & least favorite movement or WOD?
My favorite movement is the deadlift. THE HEALTH LIFT. Its the best!! And my least favorite movement is anything that makes me breathe hard. So, everything.
What is your favorite cheat meal?
Masa Pizza. Echo Park. But pizza doesn’t have any calories so is it really a cheat meal?
If you had to describe CrossFit in one sentence:
Life lessons, daily.
