What’s your name?
Describe your first time trying CrossFit:
My first experience was with Travis to check out the gym and find out more this thing called CrossFit, I met Logan too that day. After our talk he had me do the Baseline benchmark WOD and I knew this was something different. I have done workout programs before like P90X and kickboxing classes but I was done for a couple days. After that I was intrigued and wanted to try a full fledged CrossFit class.
Before starting CrossFit, when did you know something had to change?
I was working out at home and the gym at work but wanted to try something different to kick it up a level. I hit a plateau.
Describe your most memorable CrossFit Experience so far.
My very first Crossfit class was so unforgettable. I remember walking into the gym as the class before was finished up. I heard barbells being dropped from clean and jerks and people doing muscle ups (which I have never seen in person at the time) in front of me. I thought of doing a 180 degree turn and going back into my car but for some reason I still attended that 730p class. I did not know what was written on the white board and I did not know any of the moves. However, everyone there was so nice and welcoming. Nobody showed any signs of showing off and even though I messed up multiple times I felt very welcomed. I remember thinking I would only do this Crossfit thing for maybe 1 month or two… it’s been over 2 years 🙂
Outside the box, what kind of work do you do? Give yourself a plug!
I am a Senior Illustrator at Marvel Studios working on the films and other projects
How has getting in shape changed your professional life?
I am in front of my computer digital painting and sculpting all day. Because of the need for a strong core and good positioning in all the lifts and gymnastic moves, my posture has improved greatly.
Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join CrossFit:
I used to wear a back brace all day for over 10 years. Now, I barely use it at all.
When is a time you’ve been able to use CrossFit outside of the box?
Picking up my kids now without hurting my back! (thank you Olympic lifts)
Who is your most idolized fellow community member?
Everyone is so great! Logan Nash is pretty awesome… love his energy and willingness to help and talk about anything.
What is your one year or next CrossFit goal?
What is your favorite & least favorite movement or WOD?
Favorite move has to be muscle ups! Least favorite are cleans… gotta work on ’em more.
What is your favorite cheat meal?
Anything with Chocolate!
If you had to describe CrossFit in one sentence:
CrossFit is a crazy cool addicting part of my life that has made me into a better me.
