What’s your name?
Describe your first time trying CrossFit:
My wife, Erin, had been doing Crossfit for a while when she had finally persuaded me to try out a class. Unfortunately my first experience happened to be “Three Wise Men,” which caused my out of shape body to vomit multiple times during the workout. Not fun! I swore off Crossfit as “not for me” but after seeing how much it had helped my wife, I decided to come back once more and give it another try. I did the On Ramp programming with Mitch and was shocked by how much I improved over the course of just two weeks and quickly became hungry to see how much further I could go. I’ve been doing it for over a year now and haven’t looked back since.
Before starting CrossFit, when did you know something had to change?
I tried running. I tried swimming. I tried a 24 hour fitness membership. Nothing stuck. I had a motivation problem and needed outside help me hold myself accountable and to whip me into shape.
Describe your most memorable CrossFit Experience so far.
Getting my revenge on “Three Wise Men” RX!
Outside the box, what kind of work do you do? Give yourself a plug!
I’m a visual effects producer for film and tv.
How has getting in shape changed your professional life?
My job consists of very long hours in front of computer monitors. Before getting into any semblance of shape, I found that my posture was weakening and my back was hurting at the end of each day. Now I find that I am pain free, have more energy, and am more confident.
Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join CrossFit:
I love working out with my wife. It’s fun to have something healthy that we share together, while having difference benchmarks and goals that we’re striving for. Plus we’re looking hot in our bathing suits!
When is a time you’ve been able to use CrossFit outside of the box?
I farmers carry Trader Joe’s bags like a BOSS.
Who is your most idolized fellow community member?
Mitch is not only a coach, but he’s a good friend outside of the gym. He coached my on ramp program and has been inspiring me to put in that extra 10% every workout. It must be that glorious mustache…
What is your one year or next CrossFit goal?
To squat over 300lbs, do strict hand stand pushups, and get my first muscle up.
What is your favorite & least favorite movement or WOD?
I love the Olympic lifts. I hate anything that remotely smells like a burpie.
What is your favorite cheat meal?
Carne asada and bourbon.
If you had to describe CrossFit in one sentence:
Goal oriented, fun, energetic, group workouts that always evolve and always kick your butt.
