What’s your name?
Describe your first time trying CrossFit:
It was pretty rough, my coach at the time was trying to get me to understand a basic front squat and I was so tight and out of shape my form was literally laughable. I remember being sore and falling asleep super early that night.
Before starting CrossFit, when did you know something had to change?
I was in my late 20’s and got pretty winded going up the stairs at a park. I hadn’t done any form of working out since college and knew if I didn’t start something soon it would be incredibly difficult to start in the future.
Describe your most memorable CrossFit Experience so far.
Though I’d like to say it was my first muscle up, I would say it’s the true sense of community and camaraderie within this box and others I’ve been to. I’ve worked out at 4 different places in the last 6 years and you can always count on coaches and other athletes that want the best for you and push you to be better regardless of where you’re at.
Outside the box, what kind of work do you do? Give yourself a plug!
Commercial Real Estate broker and semi-professional drummer in Los Angeles
How has getting in shape changed your professional life?
In real estate t’s made me better at setting goals, seeing them through, and dealing with difficult clients. Regarding drumming, it has helped build the strength and endurance to play for 3+ hours at a time, multiple times a week.
Tell us about an area of your life most impacted by your decision to join CrossFit:
Life in general is easier when you learn by constantly challenge and humbling yourself. CrossFit does this to me constantly 🙂
When is a time you’ve been able to use CrossFit outside of the box?
Long distance hikes and/or long music shows/practice/etc do not worry me like they used to. Set a pace and stay the course.
What is your one year or next CrossFit goal?
To focus a little more on strength conditioning. I’m built like a twelve year-old girl and it would be nice to have a little more meat on me!
What is your favorite & least favorite movement or WOD?
Favorite is different versions of planks while using TRX or rings on your feet. Literally the only movement that makes me pour sweat but I love it. I have always hated thrusters or WOD’s that can make you rip your hands open.
What is your favorite cheat meal?
Any dessert or pastry from Porto’s bakery
If you had to describe CrossFit in one sentence:
As with anything in life, if you give your all when you walk in the door you will be surprised at what you can become.
