Magic in the Air

Another WOD down, and another amazing weekend of triumphs! You guys all really brought it on 19.2, and I’m so proud of our gym.
There was no shortage of excitement this week, as we got to see so many of you hit those big cleans- some of you even hitting a PR!

Honestly, to be able to hit that high of a percentage after putting in all of that work on toes to bar and double-unders is unbelievably admirable, but to see all the PRs is just incredible.

Sure, our programming hopefully somewhat prepared us for this…but the intangible element, the special energy in the air, the support of your friends…that’s what really pushes things over the top! We got to really see that this week.

There were lots of amazing moments and tons of stand-out performances. One I’ll definitely never forget that epitomizes the magic of FNL is seeing Anton Geuping during one of our last heats of the night.

He’s been battling a shoulder injury for some time but still been diligent in training consistently with modifications. He had just PR’d his clean on Tuesday at 175#. As he battled 19.2, he made it all the way to the final round in minute 16-20. The weight? 185#.

After a few misses, a crowd had gathered since he was the last one working. With the tension of a Hollywood movie and after a few words of guidance, he approached that bar one last time.

…he got underneath, and then stood it up! The gym exploded with an excitement that is rarely seen. People literally leaping into the air and cheering. As the clock ran out, the applause went on for what seemed like five minutes. It was special. It was awesome.

That is just one of MANY stories I could share. If you haven’t been to a FNL event yet, please come be part of the magic. Make sure to head over to our Facebook page and check out the awesome photo albums from the first two weeks. Three more to go!
