NEW events, NEW classes, NEW announcements!
Natural Disasters Fundraiser:
Tentatively scheduled for September 30, CFHV will be hosting a very special event at our gym. It was originally going to be a fundraiser for those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas, but in lieu of Hurricane Irma on the way this weekend, wildfires raging here and all over the US, we’re thinking a little bigger.
We’ll be having a fun event where you can all come and participate, regardless of your ability level to help those in need. The idea is to have a few challenges that you, your friends & family can participate in. Your performance can directly influence the funds raised to go to the right place. All proceeds will go to help CrossFit gyms affected by these horrible tragedies.
Details are still coming since we’re throwing this together pretty fast, but think stuff like: max push-ups in 2 minutes, cals on bike in 5 minutes, max power cleans in 8 minutes, etc… for each rep you complete, you get friends & family to pledge $1.00 for example…you get the idea.
ALSO, I am making the commitment that for every one of you that participates that day, I will personally pledge $5.00. If 100 of you come out and just participate that’s $500 right there!
We’re looking for companies to match donations or even just contribute to the day or cause in any way. We want to try and do our part in the community. Not just the CFHV community, but the whole CrossFit community.
NEW Saturday Specialty Class:
At the conclusion of our 9 week Oly cycle on September 23, we will have our Fundraiser on September 30. After that will begin an all new class!
Ever wonder how you’ll nail those difficult higher level skills? Double-unders, rope climbs, & pistols can all be pretty challenging. How many of you are looking to get that first pull-up, muscle-up, or handstand push-ups? Maybe you want to learn how to chain together kipping toes to bar or butterfly your pull-ups or chest to bar…
Well…I’m proud to announce that our new SKILLS class is for you!
Just like Oly Class focuses on one lift per week, breaks it down into the pieces, and then reconstructs it to give you a shot at improving your abilities, so too will this class.
We will focus on one of these skills per week, and at the end of each class we’ll include a WOD to utilize your newly learned skill.
This exciting new class kicks off on Saturday, October 7 @ 10am!
8:30pm Class Time Ending this Month:
September is the final month for the 8:30pm class time on Mondays & Wednesdays. We’ve run it for about 6 months now and it’s had a little trouble finding it’s legs. The answer is to better utilize those resources elsewhere for now.
If YOU want this class to stay on the schedule, NOW is the time to step up and use it! Make your voice heard, and have your feelings honored. Make this class big! Start showing up on the regular and show us that you want it to stay.
Otherwise September is it, so now’s the last chance!
ITP (Instructor Training Program) Info Meeting:
The response to the announcement of this program has been overwhelming! I’ve received many letters of intention from those of your interested, and on Thursday, September 21 @ 7pm I will be having an info meeting to discuss the program.
Ever thought of becoming a CrossFit Coach? Come to this meeting and find out all about our Instructor Training Program. I’ll lay out all of the details, requirements, & timelines. No pressure or commitments at this meeting, just come find out what to expect and if ITP might be right for you!
The ITP program officially kicks off Thursday, October 5!
